My name is Stephanie Gordon and I am the Community Outreach Counsellor at The Redwood. The Redwood is a shelter in Toronto for women (16 & up) who are fleeing abusive situations.
I am interested in connecting with an manager or administrator from this site with regards to a volunteer opportunity for female High School students ages 16-20.
The Redwood is currently in the process of recruiting youth between the ages of 16-20 for a leadership training program called Women on the Move (WOTM). This training program will allow the youth to learn leadership skills such as public speaking, group facilitation, event planning (planning a youth conference)and how to use social media to bring awareness to social issues. The skills they develop is this program can later be applied to their education and employment goals. Those interested in participating must commit to volunteering for 1 year. At the end of the year a $200 honorarium will be awarded along with a certificate of completion.
